Foresters Complete MWC South Schedule with Win over Knox
Five Lake Forest players win twice in the match

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s tennis team hosted and defeated Knox College 8-1 Saturday (September 24) in the squad’s final Midwest Conference South Division match of the season. The Foresters are now 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the division, which will likely place them second in the final standings and secure a spot in the four-team conference championship tournament for the seventh straight season. The Prairie Fire fell to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the MWC South.

The home team claimed all three of the doubles matches. Sophomore Alli Berry (Plymouth, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong) and junior Anastasia Rudkovskaya (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove) defeated Knox’s top team 8-1, senior Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) and sophomore Jaime Jackson (Milwaukee, WI/Divine Savior-Holy Angels) prevailed 8-3 at the number two spot, and senior Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) teamed with junior Kendal Wapotish (McHenry, IL/McHenry) for an 8-2 triumph at number three.

The Foresters also took the top five singles matches. Richardson and Chudacoff both recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories at numbers two and three and Berry also won in straight sets (6-2, 6-0) at number one. Wapotish edged out her opponent 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) at number four and Jackson recorded a narrow 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) win at number five.

Lake Forest will continue the non-conference portion of its schedule with a home match against Benedictine University Thursday (September 29) afternoon at 3:00 and a pair of contests on the road next weekend (September 30-October 1). The Foresters will play at Lawrence University Friday afternoon at 3:00 and at St. Norbert College Saturday morning at 11:00. Both are considered non-MWC matches because the opponents are in the league’s North Division.
