Melika Celebic Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Freshman knocked off the defending conference champion

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College women’s tennis player Melika Celebic (Visoko, Bosnia Herzegovina/United World College) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (September 17) for her performance in a pair of wins the previous weekend (September 11-12).

Celebic, a freshman, plays at the top spot in the lineup in both singles and doubles. She started the weekend with an 8-1 doubles victory in the Foresters’ 8-1 triumph over visiting Lawrence University on Friday. She then defeated the defending conference champion 7-5, 6-2 in singles.

The team blanked visiting Mount Mary College on Saturday and Celebic did not lose a game in doubles (8-0) or singles (6-0, 6-0).

Celebic is now 4-1 in singles and 5-0 in doubles this year.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
