Lake Forest Falls to Grinnell, Wins at Illinois College

Brittany Richardson now has 75 career victories in singles and doubles combined.

The two closest matches in the loss to Grinnell came at number one doubles and number six singles. Senior Brittany Richardson (Little Rock, AR/Central) and sophomore Alli Berry (Plymouth, MN/Robbinsdale Armstrong) were defeated 9-8 (7-3) at the top doubles spot and sophomore Jaime Jackson (Milwaukee, WI/Divine Savior-Holy Angels) fell 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) at the last singles position.

Richardson and Berry won 8-2 at number one doubles against Illinois College. The other two doubles matches were both 8-0 shutouts. Juniors Anastasia Rudkovskaya (Buffalo Grove, IL/Buffalo Grove) and Kendal Wapotish (McHenry, IL/McHenry) swept their opponents at number two and the team of Jackson and senior Jill Chudacoff (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park) did the same at number three.

Five of the six singles matches were also perfect for the Foresters. Berry blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at number one and Richardson, Chudacoff, Wapotish, and Jackson followed suit at numbers two, three, five, and six, respectively. Rudkovskaya also won in straight sets at number four (6-4, 6-3).

The Foresters’ next three matches will be at home and on consecutive days. The team will host Wisconsin Lutheran College Thursday (September 15) afternoon at 3:00, Ripon College Friday (September 16) at 3:30 p.m., and fellow MWC South Division foe Monmouth College at noon on Saturday (September 17).
