Darkness Leaves Lake Forest and Carroll Deadlocked
Teams play to 3-3 tie

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester women's tennis team hosted Carroll University on Wednesday (October 7) and the match was even at three points apiece when darkness fell. The tie leaves Lake Forest with a 9-4-1 record on the season and the Lady Pioneers with a mark of 7-3-1.

Carroll took two of the three doubles matches with the lone Forester victory coming at #1 where freshman Melika Celebic (Visoko, Bosnia Herzegovina/United World College) and sophomore Nonie Carson (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) prevailed 8-3. They now own a team-best 9-4 record together on the season.

Celebic and Carson were also victorious in singles. Celebic triumphed 6-0, 6-2 at #1, raising her team-best singles record on the year to 11-3. Carson bested the Lady Pioneers #2 player 7-5, 6-0 to even her singles mark at 6-6.

The visitors claimed victories at #2 and #3 doubles as well as #3 singles.

Forester sophomore Allison Hamel (Bend, Ore./Bend) trailed 7-5, 5-3 at #4 when the match was called. Junior Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) dropped the first set 7-5 at #5 but led in set two 3-1. Junior Natalie Atroshenko (Wheeling, Ill./Buffalo Grove) was tied 4-4 in the first set at #6.

The Foresters will close out the regular season next Tuesday (October 13) at Robert Morris College. The match will begin at 4:00 p.m. and serve as a final tuneup before the following weekend's (October 16-18) Midwest Conference Tournament.
