Molly Stapleton Named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week
Senior helped the Foresters reach MWC Tournament

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College women’s tennis player Molly Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday (October 6) for her performance three matches the previous weekend (October 2-4).

Stapleton, a senior, played at #2 doubles and #3 singles throughout the weekend. She started with an 8-1 win in doubles and a 6-2, 6-0 triumph in singles against visiting Knox College on Friday. Lake Forest won the match 9-0.

On Saturday the Foresters fell 7-2 to St. Norbert College. After suffering her only defeat of the weekend in doubles (8-5), she earned one of the squad’s two team points with a 6-2 victory in singles.

Stapleton closed out the weekend with a dominating performance against Monmouth College. She blanked Fighting Scot opponents in both doubles (8-0) and singles (6-0, 6-0) play as Lake Forest clinched second place in the MWC’s South Division and a spot in the four-team MWC Championship Tournament on Friday, October 16.
