Team is 4-0-0 in league play

Tanya Lopez is tied for the team lead with four goals.
APPLETON, WI - The Lake Forest College women’s soccer team claimed its fourth Midwest Conference victory in as many games Saturday (September 18), a 2-1 triumph at Lawrence University. The Foresters are now 5-1-0 overall while Lawrence fell to 0-6-0 in its league opener.

Senior Kristen Fink’s (Menasha, WI/St. Mary Central) shot in the game’s ninth minute was stopped by Lawrence’s goalkeeper but the rebound was followed up by junior Tanya Lopez (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X) for her fourth score of the year. The Foresters out-shot the Vikings 8-5 in the first half but neither team scored again in the period.

Senior Erika Koesling (Lindenhurst, IL/Antioch) followed up her own shot for her third goal of the season just two minutes into the second half, giving the visitors a 2-0 advantage.

Lawrence pulled to within a goal with 29:36 remaining in the game and out-shot Lake Forest 13-7 in the final 45 minutes, but was unable to tie the score.

Sophomore Kristyne Operzedek (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) recorded six saves in the game. She has allowed just three goals and tallied 32 saves while posting a 4-1-0 record on the season.

The Foresters will play at Dominican University Wednesday (September 22) afternoon at 4:30. Lake Forest will resume its MWC schedule at Grinnell College next Saturday (September 25) and will host Beloit College on Sunday (September 26).
