Foresters Begin 2009 with Victory at Concordia Chicago
Becky Esrock scores three times in collegiate debut

Bianca Greene
RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Lake Forest College women's soccer team won 4-1 at Concordia University Chicago Tuesday evening (September 1). It was the season opener for both teams.

The Foresters wasted little time before scoring their first goal of the year. Freshman Becky Esrock (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield, School) put the visitors on the scoreboard just 9:31 into the contest with an assist credited to junior Bianca Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica). Esrock and sophomore Caroline Stearns (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) then assisted senior Jocelyn Maneval (Fairfax, Va./James W. Robinson) at 17:58 with what turned out to be the official game winner. Greene assisted Esrock for the second time in the game exactly two minutes later and Lake Forest held a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Esrock completed the hat trick five minutes and 13 seconds into the second period off an assist from junior Emily Weber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills Upper School). The Cougars finally got on the scoreboard with the game's final goal on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.

Lake Forest freshman goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond Burton) recorded three saves in slightly more than 80 minutes of play. Classmate Caitlin Connors (Dover, Mass./Dover-Sherborn) held the home team scoreless for the final 10 minutes and also tallied three saves.

The Foresters will play their home opener against North Park University Sunday afternoon (September 6). The game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
