Monica Thomas Named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week
Freshman helped lead Foresters to a pair of league shutouts over the weekend

Lake Forest, Ill. – Lake Forest College women’s soccer player Monica Thomas (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Monday (October 23) for her performance in a pair of Forester victories over the weekend (October 21-22).

Thomas, a freshman, was moved from midfield to sweeper the previous weekend and excelled in her new role on the team. She helped anchor a defense that shut out Monmouth College 1-0 on Saturday and Illinois College 3-0 on Sunday. The Fighting Scots and Blueboys attempted only 13 shots, including just seven on goal, in the two games combined.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league’s sports information director.
