Foresters Skate to 6-1 Victory at Home Over Bethel
Caligiuri and McGrath each score twice

LAKE FOREST, IL - After a week-and-a-half off, the Lake Forest College women's hockey team was back on the ice Wednesday (January 29) and defeated Bethel College 6-1. The team is now 10-5-3 on the year while Bethel fell to 1-15-0.

Freshman Erin McGrath (Chippawa, ON/Niagara Rapids) started the scoring just 73 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. Fellow freshman Lil Caligiuri (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) scored at the 15:07 mark to give the Foresters a two-goal lead.

In the second period, Lake Forest scored four times, starting at 6:52 with freshman Emily Blegen's (Elk River, MN/Fridley) team-high 13th goal of the season. Freshman Catherine Norton (South Boston, MA/Phillips Andover Academy) scored her first career goal just 31 seconds later. Finally, Caligiuri and McGrath each scored their second of the game and fifth of the season at 9:41 and 17:38, respectively.

Bethel's Alyson Sundberg ruined Forester sophomore Haley Birnbaum's (Riverwoods, IL/Chicago Young Americans) shutout bid at the 8:52 mark of the third. Birnbaum finished with 16 saves.

Lake Forest will put its 3-5-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association record on the line at home this weekend (January 31-February 1) against UW-Superior (8-12-1, 4-8-0 NCHA). The teams will face off at 7:30 Friday night and 2:00 Saturday afternoon. The Foresters swept the Yellowjackets earlier this season in Superior, Wisconsin.
