Lake Forest Defeated Twice by Nation’s #6 Team
Foresters fall 3-1 at UW-Stevens Point, 3-0 at home

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester women’s hockey team dropped a non-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association weekend series to UW-Stevens Point, the nation’s sixth-ranked team. The Pointers won 3-1 at home Friday (January 14) night and 3-0 in Lake Forest on Sunday (January 16). The Foresters are now 5-7-3 on the season and Stevens Point raised its record to 12-2-0.

Stevens Point scored just 65 seconds into Friday night’s contest. Lake Forest evened the score at the opening period’s 12:26 mark on junior Lil Caligiuri’s (Wheaton, IL/Culver Academy) third goal of the season. She was assisted by freshman Amalia Vriend (King City, ON/Markham Stouffville Stars).

The Pointers’ other two goals came at 7:04 in the second stanza and 10:28 in the third.

The Foresters’ Sally Bevis (Huntington, NY/North American Hockey Academy) tallied 37 saves in the game, including 17 in the second period. She stopped 31 on Sunday and currently owns a .919 save percentage on the season.

Stevens Point’s first goal of Sunday’s game came at the 16:24 mark of the opening frame. The Pointers also lit the lamp at 9:39 in the second and 10:47 in the third.

Lake Forest will play an exhibition series against Robert Morris College next weekend (January 21-22). The teams will face off at Robert Morris at 7:00 Friday night and again in Lake Forest at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
