LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women’s hockey team dropped a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games last weekend at home to close out the regular season. The Foresters fell 5-0 on Friday (February 24) and 5-3 on Saturday (February 25) to UW-Superior, the fifth-ranked team in the nation. The losses dropped Lake Forest’s record to 11-10-4 overall and 4-7-4 in the NCHA, while Superior improved to 21-2-2 overall and 11-2-2 in the league.

The visitors scored once in the first period, added another goal in the second, then netted three goals in the third period in Friday’s 5-0 win. The Yellowjackets out shot the Foresters in the contest (30-21) and limited the home team to just seven shots in each period.

On Saturday, sophomore forward Courtney DeHoey (Chatham, ON/Bluewater Jr. Hawks) scored a second-period goal and dished out a pair of assists, one to classmate Laura Wilson (Coronna, ON/Sarnia Sting), and the other to sophomore Jen Clouthier (Aurora, IL/Chicago Mission). DeHoey finished the game with three points and has a team-record tying 29 this season. She is also one assist shy of matching the single-season school record of 15. Sophomore Allison Rushing (Seattle, WA/Seattle Admirals) also earned an assist on Wilson’s 14th goal of the year, freshman Dayna Kanis (Georgetown, ON/Etobicoke Dolphins) was credited with an assist on Clouthier’s third, and junior Katie Snowden (Toronto, ON/Willowdale Redwings) helped set up Dehoey’s 15th.

Lake Forest led 2-1 briefly in the opening period, but the Yellowjackets closed out the contest by outscoring the home team 4-1 in the final two periods. The Foresters were out shot 31-19 and failed to pull out a win for the ninth consecutive game.

Lake Forest will enter the NCHA Tournament as the fourth seed and face off against top-seeded UW-Stevens Point (17-4-4, 11-1-3) Friday (March 3) at 4:00 p.m. The winner will battle either Superior or UW-River Falls (13-10-2, 8-6-1) in Saturday’s championship game, and the losers from both semifinal games will compete in the third place game on Saturday.
