Lake Forest is 3-0 After Victory at the University of Chicago
Freeman makes five of six attempts from three-point range

CHICAGO, IL - The Forester women's basketball team won its third straight game to open the 2002-03 season Tuesday (November 26) at the University of Chicago. The final score was 75-43. Lake Forest has outscored its three opponents by a 226-130 margin.

Kristy Freeman (Palatine, IL/Palatine) led the Foresters in scoring with 15 points. The sophomore guard shot five-for-six from three-point range, the second-most accurate long-distance shooting game in school history (minimum five attempts).

Sophomore forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) also scored in double-figures with 14 points. She connected on six of seven field goal attempts and is shooting 78.9% (15-for-19) so far this season. Clerkin also added four rebounds, a blocked shot, and a pair of steals.

Junior guard Sherry Wagner (Chicago, IL/Mother McAuley) led the squad in assists with seven. She also chipped in four points and three rebounds. Fellow junior Tangara Cross (Garland, TX/Naaman Forest) scored eight points on 4-for-6 shooting and added a blocked shot and a game-high four steals. The forward is shooting 64.3% (9-for-14) from the field so far this season.

Lake Forest connected on a season-high 54.2% of its field goal attempts and shot 16-for-21 from the free throw line. The Foresters recorded 13 steals and held Chicago to 29.8% shooting from the field.

Lake Forest scored the first five points of the game and jumped out to a 16-4 lead after seven minutes of play. A 20-7 run to close out the half gave the Foresters a 42-19 lead at intermission. The lead fluctuated between 21 and 34 points throughout the second half.

Lake Forest will be at home for its next game, a Midwest Conference contest against Grinnell College on Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. The Foresters will host Carthage College the following Tuesday in the team's last game of the fall semester.
