Foresters Take One of Two on the Road
Team beats Lawrence, falls to Carroll

WAUKESHA, WI - The Lake Forest College women’s basketball team defeated Lawrence University 67-55 on Friday (February 6) but fell in a 66-63 decision at Carroll College on Saturday (February 7). The team is now 13-7 overall and is sitting in third place in the Midwest Conference with a 9-3 league mark.

Forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) displayed a dominating performance against Lawrence University. The junior netted 8 of 13 attempts from the field and drained four of five free throws to lead all players with 20 points. Clerkin also had a game-high eight rebounds and led the Foresters with four steals. Junior guard Kandyce Green (Chicago, IL/Marian Catholic) finished with 15 points and senior forward Tangara Cross (Garland, TX/Naaman Forest) added a career-high 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Both teams were tied at 26 at halftime, but the Foresters outscored the Vikings 41-29 in the second half to secure the win. The visitors never trailed in the half and led by as many as 15. Lake Forest out-rebounded Lawrence 39-23 and shot 44.9% from the field while the Vikings shot 38.8%.

At Carroll College, sophomore Devon Liebl (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Pius XI) scored a career-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor, including a 3-of-4 performance from three-point range. Green added 13 points, Clerkin finished with a dozen points and 14 rebounds, and Cross chipped in 10 points and five boards.

The Foresters shot 50% from the field in the first half to build a 36-29 halftime advantage, but the Pioneers climbed back to take a 50-48 lead with 12:11 remaining. The final 12 minutes featured three ties and eight lead changes, but ended with Carroll sinking a pair of free throws at the end of regulation to seal the three-point win.

The Foresters out rebounded the Pioneers 37-26, but committed 20 turnovers, including two in the game’s final minute. Carroll committed only 11 turnovers.

Lake Forest will host Illinois College on Wednesday (February 11). The Lady Blues are 5-14 overall and 3-9 in the conference. The Foresters are 17-2 all-time against Illinois College, including a 69-61 win on the road last month.
