Foresters 2-0 in MWC After 70-40 Home Victory Over Monmouth
Green and Wagner score in double-figures for Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's basketball team moved to 6-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in Midwest Conference play with a convincing 70-40 victory at home over Monmouth College on Tuesday (December 4th).

Freshman guard Kandyce Green (Chicago Heights, IL/Marian Catholic), the team's leading scorer at 11.0 points per game, scored 14 in this one on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. Green also added three steals.

Sophomore guard Sherry Wagner (Chicago, IL/Mother McAuley) was the team's second-leading scorer on Tuesday with 10 points. Like Green, Wagner connected on two of three shots from beyond the three-point arc.

Freshman forward Shannon Clerkin (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and, along with senior guard Jenni Klusman (New Berlin, WI/New Berlin West), tied for the team-lead in assists with three. Clerkin scored five points while Klusman had nine and added three steals.

Lake Forest held Monmouth to 26.2% shooting from the field and forced the Fighting Scots into 31 turnovers. The Foresters' field goal percentage was 46.2% and they out-rebounded the visitors 42-31.

Lake Forest never trailed in the game. They led by as many as 14 points on three separate occasions in the first period before going into the locker room with a 31-20 halftime lead. A 14-2 Forester run to open the second half took the lead up to 23 points (45-22) and put the game well out of reach.

Lake Forest will travel to Grinnell College this weekend for a Saturday (December 8th) afternoon game. It will be the Midwest Conference opener for the Pioneers.
