Foresters Fall to Chicago in Five Games
Maroons take final game 21-19

Nicole Baich has already set the single-season school record with 48 solo blocks.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College volleyball team fell to the University of Chicago at home Thursday (October 7) in a grueling five-game thriller (31-29, 24-30, 30-21, 24-30, 21-19). The Foresters record on the year is now 14-9 and the Maroons’ mark is 12-7.

Four Foresters reached double figures in kills, led by senior Amy Krueger’s (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) 18. She also added 22 digs. Freshman Nicole Baich (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) recorded 14 kills and six blocks. Freshman Savanna Shumaker (Bristol, WI/ Westosha Central) had a dozen kills, as did senior DeAnna Bauer (Naperville, IL/Naperville North), whose stat line also included 13 digs and five blocks.

Junior Meghan Miller (Williams Bay, WI/Williams Bay) led the home team with a career-high 35 digs. Senior Andrea Krueger (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) tallied 20 digs and 57 assists. Freshman Merissa Martin (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) also reached double figures in digs with 15.

Lake Forest will be on the road for another non-conference match on Tuesday (October 12) at Carthage College. The contest will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Foresters will resume Midwest Conference play next weekend (October 15-16) with a Friday night match at Illinois College and a Saturday afternoon contest at Monmouth College.
