The 2009 season will be the second at Lake Forest for Jennifer Saylor and her eighth as a collegiate head coach. Under Saylor's direction in 2008, the Foresters posted an 8-19 overall record and remained in contention for a spot in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament until their final match of the season. The team finished 4-5 in league play for the second year in a row. Saylor was the head volleyball coach at fellow Midwest Conference member Illinois College from 2002-07. She led the Lady Blue volleyball team to a 105-100 overall record and 31-23 mark in league play during her tenure. The squad posted a program-best 25-12 overall record in 2004 and placed first in the MWC South Division standings at 7-2. In seven seasons as a head coach in the MWC, Saylor's players were named all-conference 19 times, including eight first team selections. Lake Forest's Lisa Sturgill was a First Team All-MWC selection in 2008 and Ashley Cretacci earned second team honors. Her players have also earned 35 Academic All-Midwest honors, including four in 2008, and a pair of Academic All-American accolades. Several Lake Forest records have been broken during Saylor's time as head coach. New marks for aces in a five-set match were set against Marian University when Mandi Mulliner recorded eight and the Foresters finished the contest with 16 as a team. In addition, Lisa Sturgill is now ranked atop the list for digs in a match (46), season (671), and career (2,563). In addition to coaching the volleyball team, Saylor was Illinois College’s head softball coach and Director of the Bellatti Fitness Center on campus. The softball team claimed the 2005 MWC South Division title and she was named the division’s Coach of the Year three times. Saylor spent the 2001 season as an assistant volleyball coach and assistant athletic trainer at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. She also coached local club programs that year. After a four-year playing career, the final two as a team captain, Saylor graduated from Heidelberg College, also located in Tiffin, Ohio, in 2000. She then earned a master’s degree in sports science from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama, in December of 2001.
