Estes and Boarini Lead Forester Swimmers in Losses at Lawrence
Five Forester men record season-best times

Randi Estes (top) and Eric Boarini (bottom) each recorded two individual wins.
APPLETON, WI - The Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams returned from their annual winter training trip in Phoenix, Arizona, and jumped right back in the pool. They returned to regular-season action Saturday in a dual meet at Lawrence University, where both the women's (90-147) and men's (92-141) teams were defeated.

The women's team was led by senior Randi Estes (LaBelle, FL/Riverdale), who won the 200-yard (2:02.65) and 500-yard (5:25.40) freestyles. Her time in the 200 was less than one second off her season-best, and her 500 time was good enough to beat runner-up Mara Sarabia of Lawrence by an impressive 21.58 seconds. Estes also earned points by helping her 400-yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish (4:02.15).

Junior Erin Motzer (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) was another Forester who narrowly missed a season-best time, winning the 200-yard butterfly in 2:17.74. She also swam in the 400-yard freestyle relay and teamed with Emily Woods (Signal Mountain, TN/Girls Prep), Erin Poynter (Fort Collins, CO/Ft. Collins) and Loden Stevens (Danville, KY/Boyle County) to win the 400-yard medley relay in a season-best time of 4:24.27. Completing the list of Lake Forest winners was junior Dana Tate (Appleton, WI/East), who won the 3-meter diving competition with 194.60 points and placed second in the 1-meter.

On the men's side, junior Eric Boarini (Wadsworth, IL/Carmel) earned two of the Foresters' three individual first-place finishes and anchored the victorious 400-yard medley relay (3:51.00). He swam his best time of the season in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.55) and also won the 100-yard freestyle (50.58). Sophomore Brady Lowdermilk (Parker, CO/Regis) posted the other Lake Forest win, completing the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.70. He was also a member of the 400-yard medley relay team along with Boarini and sophomores Joe Isaacs (Shorewood, MN/Breck) and Aaron Lawlor (Vernon Hills, IL/Libertyville).

Other Foresters who turned in season-best performances were sophomores Jeremy Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) and Brandon Johnson (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy), junior Brendan Kearns (Chesterfield, MO/St. Louis University) and senior Joe Zemaitis (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon).

The Lake Forest women's team is now 1-3 in dual meets, while the men are 3-1. Both teams will travel to Holland, Michigan, Saturday for a quad meet at Hope College before hosting their final home meet of the season January 26th.
