Forester Squads Place Eighth at TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic
Bueter finishes in top five in three events

KENOSHA, WI - The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams each placed eighth at Carthage College’s TYR/CollegeSwimming.com Classic on Friday and Saturday (December 3-4). St. Cloud State University won the women’s competition and Carthage captured the men’s.

Sophomore Chelsea Bueter (Swisher, IA/Prairie) was the top Forester finisher. She placed fourth in both the 200-butterfly (2:16.79) and 400-individual medley (4:49.27), fifth in the 200-breaststroke (2:32.04), and eighth in the 200-IM (2:15.31). The women’s team’s other top-10 finishes were freshmen Mia Hable’s (Hudson, OH/Hudson) 1650-freestyle (eighth – 19:06.98) and Lauren Peterson’s (Arvada, CO/J.K. Mullen) 100-breaststroke (10th – 1:11.59).

Hable added a 12th-place finish in the 500-freestyle and a 13th-place finish in the 100-butterfly. Peterson also placed 14th in the 200-breaststroke, 19th in the 200-IM, and 20th in the 400-IM. Other points in individual events came from junior Erin Colwell (Northfield, MN/Northfield) and freshman Stephanie Kierzek (Vernon Hills, IL/Vernon Hills) in the 200-backstroke (14th and 18th, respectively), Colwell in the 200-freestyle (20th), and both sophomore Anne Haas (South Berwick, ME/St. Thomas Aquinas) and sophomore Ellen Lillegard (Gardnerville, NV/Douglas) in the 1650-freestyle (18th and 20th, respectively).

The top performance on the men’s side was freshman Michael Ojdana’s (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) 13th-place finish in the 1650-freestyle (17:37.42). He also placed 17th in the 500-freestyle. Junior Aaron Koop (Newton, KS/Newton) finished 17th in the 200-breaststroke and 19th in the 400-IM. Sophomore Derek Drayer (Albuquerque, NM/Eldorado) also scored in both the 200-breaststroke (18th) and 100-breaststroke (19th).

The Foresters’ first competition after returning from their training trip will be the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Wheaton College on Saturday, January 15. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
