Lake Forest Headed to NCAA Regional Tourney in Alma, Michigan
Foresters are the #4 seed, will face Defiance College in first round

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester softball team won its third straight Midwest Conference Championship last weekend (April 30-May 1) and earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The next stop for the team will be the NCAA Regional Tournament in Alma, Michigan this weekend (May 7-10).

Lake Forest is now 26-11 this season and is the #4 seed at the six-team Alma Regional. Host Alma College is number one with a 35-6 record. Augustana College is the number two seed at 34-7 and the University of Chicago is number three at 26-9. Defiance College (22-17-1) and Edgewood College (22-16) round out the field at five and six, respectively.

The Foresters will face Defiance in the tournament opener at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Chicago and Edgewood will play in the other first round game. Should Lake Forest defeat Defiance, the team will take on Alma in round two of the double-elimination tournament at 2:00 Friday afternoon.

The tournament winner, which will be decided on Sunday or Monday, will advance to the eight-team national finals next weekend (May 13-17) in Salem, Virginia.
