Gretchen Galasek Named Forester Athlete of the Week
Freshman’s first career start was a no-hitter

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College softball player Gretchen Galasek (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday (April 3) for her performance in game two of a doubleheader at Wheaton College the previous Saturday (March 29).

Galasek, a freshman pitcher, held the Thunder without a hit in her first collegiate start. She surrendered four walks a pair of unearned runs in the contest, which Wheaton won 2-1.

It was the 11th no-hitter in team history and the sixth started by a Forester freshman. It was also just the second no-hitter thrown by a Lake Forest player in a losing effort.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
