Foresters Begin 2007 with Victories over Concordia and Marian

Lake Forest won two of the three doubles matches against Concordia. Freshman Joel Hainsfurther (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) and sophomore Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) prevailed 9-7 at number two and sophomore Will Hiemenz (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade) teamed up with junior Tim Tierney (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) for an 8-3 triumph at three.

The teams split the six singles matches with Forester sophomore Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, Ill./Deerfield) claiming a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) victory at the top spot in the lineup. Hiemenz won 6-3, 7-5 at number three and freshman Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) debuted with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at six.

All three Forester doubles teams won 8-0 against Marian. Tektumanidze and freshman Alex Presman (Deerfield, Ill/Deerfield) played at number one, Hainsfurther and Campagna at two, and Hiemenz and Tierney at three.

Presman defeated the Sabre’s top singles player 6-1, 6-1 and freshman Ricky Galvez (Poolville, N.Y./Hamilton Central) debuted with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number two. Hiemenz raised his record on the day to 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at three and senior Ben Larsen (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) recorded an 8-0 triumph at four. Freshman Ben Ma (Arcadia, Calif./Webb School) started his career with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at five and Campagna knocked off Marian’s number six singles player 6-0, 6-1.

The next four matches on the Foresters’ schedule will be played during the team’s Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Lake Forest will start with a match against Defiance College at noon (EST) on Tuesday, March 13.
