Lake Forest Wins 7-2 at Concordia University
Tektumanidze, Fretter, and Tierney each win twice

RIVER FOREST, IL - The Forester men’s tennis team registered a 7-2 victory Thursday (April 6) afternoon at Concordia University (IL). Lake Forest raised its record on the year to 5-8 while the Cougars fell to 4-3.

The Foresters won at two of the three doubles positions. Freshman Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) and sophomore Tim Tierney (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) posted an 8-1 victory at number two and freshman Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, MI/Cranbrook Kingswood) teamed up with senior Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) for a 9-7 triumph at number three.

Three of those four players were also victorious in singles play. Tektumanidze knocked off Concordia’s top player 6-3, 6-2, Fretter prevailed 6-1, 6-3 at number four, and Tierney did not lose a game in his 6-0, 6-0 win at number six. The visitors also came out on top at number three, where senior Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) outlasted his opponent 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Freshman Will Hiemenz (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade) earned Lake Forest’s other team point at number five with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 victory.

The Foresters will play three matches at home this weekend (April 8-9). Lake Forest will host Beloit College Saturday at 1:00 p.m., Milwaukee School of Engineering at 9:00 Sunday morning, and St. Norbert College at 3:00 that afternoon.
