Rout at Aurora is Lake Forest’s Sixth Straight Victory
Foresters climb above .500

AURORA, IL - The Forester men’s tennis team climbed above the .500 mark with a 9-0 victory at Aurora University on Thursday (April 13). Lake Forest is now 9-8 on the season with a six-match winning streak and wins in nine of the last 10 contests. Aurora fell to 2-7 on the year.

The Foresters started the match with victories at all three doubles positions. Freshmen Rocky Tektumanidze (Riverwoods, IL/Deerfield) and Andrew Fretter (Bloomfield, MI/Cranbrook Kingswood) won 8-3 at the top spot, senior Nick Sandner (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) teamed with sophomore Tim Tierney (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) for an 8-1 triumph at number two, and seniors Rob Burda (Meridian, ID/Meridian) and Sebastian Bienia (Lemont, IL/Lemont) prevailed 8-0 at number three.

Tektumanidze claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the top single spot in the lineup and Burda won 6-1, 6-0 at number two. Sandner registered a 6-4, 6-1 win at number three and Fretter prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at number four. Freshman Will Hiemenz (St. Louis, MO/Chaminade) and Tierney posted the day’s most lopsided singles victories with 6-0, 6-0 wins at number five and six, respectively.

The Foresters will host a pair of matches on Saturday (April 15). They will take on Midwest Conference South Division foe Monmouth College at 9:00 a.m. and Carroll College at 3:00 p.m.
