Steve Stavropoulos
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Lake Forest College men’s soccer player Steve Stavropoulos (Vernon Hills, Ill./Stevenson) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday (September 6) for his performance in a pair of victories in the last week.

Stavropoulos, a junior forward, scored three goals in the team’s season-opening 5-2 triumph at Concordia University Chicago on Sunday (September 2). His first of the game cut the Foresters’ deficit to 2-1, his second broke a 2-2 tie, and his third gave the visitors a 4-2 lead. It was the first “hat trick” and third multi-goal game of his career.

The Foresters jumped out to a 1-0 lead at Benedictine University Wednesday (September 5) night on Stavropoulos’ fourth goal of the young season. After falling behind 2-1, Lake Forest rallied for a 3-2 victory.

Stavropoulos has already matched his career-high for goals in a season.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
