Lake Forest Falls at Lawrence University
Attila Schmidt scores Foresters’ only goal

Attila Schmidt
Appleton, Wis. – The Forester men’s soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at Lawrence University on Saturday (September 30) and fell to 5-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in Midwest Conference play this season. The Vikings raised their overall record to 5-4-0 and their league mark to 2-1-0.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Lawrence took the lead just 33 seconds into the second half.

Lake Forest responded at the 58:42 mark with junior Attila Schmidt’s (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve) team-leading seventh goal of the season. He was assisted by senior Walter Echeverry (Glenview, Ill./Maine East).

The Vikings, however, regained the lead just 27 seconds later and extended it with insurance goals at 74:07 and 82:46.

Lawrence was out-shot 17-11 but became the third consecutive team to defeat Lake Forest despite taking fewer shots.

The Foresters will play a non-conference game at North Park University Tuesday (October 3) night at 7:00 and another at Dominican University Saturday (October 7) afternoon at 1:00.
