Double-Overtime Goal at Benedictine Gives Lake Forest its Fourth Shutout in a Row
Foresters tie program record for consecutive shutouts

Tom Biesiada
LISLE, Ill. – The Forester men's soccer team recorded its school record-tying fourth straight shutout, a 1-0 double-overtime victory at Benedictine University, Wednesday night (September 23). Lake Forest evened its record on the year at 4-4-0 while the Eagles fell to 3-5-0.

Forester junior goalkeeper Tom Biesiada (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) has started each of the four shutouts and needed just one save in 105:16 on Wednesday to keep his scoreless streak alive. He has now held opponents without a goal for more than 392 minutes and is 4-0-0 with a 0.22 goals against average and .938 save percentage this season.

The only goal on Wednesday came in the second overtime when a Benedictine defender tried to clear a ball being played by Lake Forest sophomore Nelson Dorvlo (St. Louis, Mo./University City) and inadvertently kicked the ball into his own goal. No individual Forester received credit for the score.

Lake Forest's four consecutive shutouts ties the program record originally set by the 1984 team and matched by the 1990 squad. The Foresters have never posted five consecutive shutouts but will look to accomplish that feat at home Sunday afternoon (September 27) against Midwest Conference foe Lawrence University. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
