Stavropoulos Scores Both Goals in Foresters’ Shutout of Marian
Team is now 5-3-1 on the season

Steven Stavropoulos recorded his first career multi-goal game.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College men’s soccer team hosted and defeated Marian College 2-0 in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon (October 4). The Foresters are now 5-3-1 this season while the Sabres fell to 2-8-1.

Freshman Steven Stavropoulos (Vernon Hills, IL/Stevenson) scored the game’s first goal at the 16:25 mark of the first period off a corner kick from sophomore Attila Schmidt (Akron, OH/Western Reserve Academy). Schmidt leads the 2005 team with seven assists and 13 points.

The second goal of the contest was also put in by Stavropoulos with just 1:08 left on the second half clock. His second tally of the game and third of the season was unassisted.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Elperin (Highland Park, IL/Lake Forest Academy) played the entire first half and then also took over for injured freshman Sam Malmberg (Concord, NH/St. Paul's School) with 19:05 remaining in the game. The duo has combined to post a 1.06 goals against average so far this year.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play this weekend (October 8-9). The team will host Grinnell College Saturday morning at 10:00 and will travel to Beloit College the following afternoon for a 4:00 contest.
