Lake Forest Closes out Season with Loss to North Park
Andrew Merz scores first career goal

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester men’s soccer team closed out the 2007 season with a 3-1 loss to visiting North Park University on Saturday (October 27). Lake Forest finished the year with a 5-11 record while the Vikings closed out the 2007 campaign with a mark of 10-7-0.

North Park scored the only goal of the first half with just 3:41 remaining in the period.

The game’s other three goals were all scored in a seven-minute span early in the second half. The Vikings began the run with a goal at 62:17. The Foresters cut the deficit in half at 66:20 on an unassisted goal by sophomore Andrew Merz (Wentzville, Mo./Timberland), the first of his career. North Park then closed out the scoring at 69:04.

The Foresters will graduate three seniors in May. Attila Schmidt (Akron, Ohio/Western Reserve), Josh Enck (Antioch, Ill./Antioch), and Zach Green (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Country Day) have helped lead the program to a 34-25-5 record over the last four seasons.
