Tim Andris shot 5-for-6 from long-range on Saturday.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's basketball team climbed the Midwest Conference standings with a pair of league wins over the weekend (January 24-25). Lake Forest defeated Beloit College 75-56 on Friday and Ripon College 62-53 on Saturday. The Foresters are now 4-11 overall and 3-5 in Midwest Conference play. Beloit fell to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the league with Friday's loss and Ripon dropped to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the MWC.

Freshman guard Greg Klos (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard North) came off the bench to lead Lake Forest in scoring on Friday with 16 points. He shot 4-of-7 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, and made all six of his free throw attempts. Klos also matched his career-high with six rebounds. Sophomore Eric McDonald (Elk Grove, IL/Elk Grove) was the only other Forester in double figures with 15 points. He shot 4-of-6 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the line. Senior guard Lee Taylor (Sheldon, IA/Sheldon) scored just five points but pulled down seven rebounds, dished out nine assists, and added two blocks and two steals.

Lake Forest shot 52.0% (26/50) from the field, 45.5% (5/11) from three-point territory, and 81.8% (18/22) from the free throw line. Beloit shot just 31.3% (20/64) from the field and committed 17 turnovers.

The Foresters never trailed and built a 36-22 lead by halftime. The margin reached 23 points (30-27) early in the second half and never fell below 12 points.

On Saturday, McDonald led the team with 18 points on 9-of-17 field goal shooting. Senior forward Tim Andris (Port Washington, WI/Port Washington) scored 17 points and matched a career-high with nine rebounds. Andris shot 5-of-6 from three-point range. Taylor scored 10 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and dished out nine assists for the second straight game.

Lake Forest made over half their field goal attempts (26/49 - 53.1%) for the second straight game. The Foresters held Ripon to 30.9% from the field (21/68) and out-rebounded the Red Hawks 45-28.

The home team led by as many as six points early in the game but by only one (15-14) at the half-way mark of the first period. After nine lead changes over the next 10 minutes, the first half ended with Ripon ahead, 29-28. A Taylor layup in the first minute of the second half started a 9-0 Lake Forest run that gave it the lead for good. The Red Hawks cut the margin to a single point three times, the last with nine minutes to play. A 14-0 Forester run over the next six-and-a-half minutes, however, put the game away.

The Foresters will be on the road next weekend (January 31-February 1) for a pair of conference games. Friday's (7:30 p.m.) contest will be at defending MWC Champion St. Norbert College (7-8, 4-4 MWC) and the team will complete its season series with Beloit on Saturday (4:00 p.m.).
