BELOIT, WI - The Forester men's basketball team split a pair of Midwest Conference road games over the weekend (January 31-February 1). On Friday, Lake Forest was defeated 71-69 at St. Norbert College. Saturday afternoon, the Foresters completed a season sweep of Beloit College with an 88-85 victory. St. Norbert gradually built an 11-point halftime lead (38-27). Lake Forest opened the second half with a 17-2 run to take a 44-40 lead with less than 14 minutes to play. The home team regained the advantage a few minutes later and held it until a pair of Klos free throws with 2:23 remaining put the Foresters ahead 61-60. St. Norbert took it back just 15 seconds later and led the rest of the way.

McDonald was even more impressive the following afternoon at Beloit, shooting 14-of-18 from the field and scoring a game-high 35 points. He was also 7-of-9 from the line and added a game-high six boards and two steals. Andris scored 13 point and dished out four assists. Freshman forwards Franklyn Beckford (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) and Henry Wimp (Chicago, IL/DeLaSalle) each scored 10.

Both teams made exactly two-thirds of their field goal attempts, at least half of their three-pointers, and turned the ball over a dozen times. The Foresters held a 19-17 edge in rebounds.

Beloit led 17-7 after six minutes of play and 40-39 at halftime. Beckford scored the first basket of the second half and the Foresters led by as many as ten (66-56) before the home team began to come back. The Buccaneers regained the lead (75-74) with 4:28 to play before a 9-1 run put the Foresters back ahead by seven with a minute remaining. The lead was back down to two before McDonald made one of two free throws with six seconds to play. Beloit's final three-point attempt was wide.
