Brown Records First Career Shutout in 2-0 Victory Over UW-Eau Claire
Myronuk and Francone score for the Foresters

Cody Brown saved 24 shots for his first career shutout.
LAKE FOREST, IL - The Forester men's hockey team raised its overall and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association record to 2-1-0 Friday (November 8) with a 2-0 triumph at home against UW-Eau Claire. The victory ended Lake Forest's three-game losing skid to the Blugolds.

Despite out-shooting Eau Claire 23-3 in the first period, the Foresters were unable to get the puck past visiting goalie Scott Sutton, and the teams were scoreless at the first intermission.

At the 12:47 mark of the second period, however, Lake Forest sophomore forward Derek Myronuk (Smithville, Ontario/ Burlington Cougars) finally put the home team on the scoreboard with his first career goal. Junior forward Adrian Wong (Richmond, British Columbia/Fernee Ghostwriters) recorded the assist, his team-leading third of the season. The period ended with the Foresters leading 1-0.

In the third period, Eau Claire got off a dozen shots on goal, but sophomore goaltender Cody Brown (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) turned each of them away to preserve his first career shutout. He raised his record on the year to 2-0-0 with the 24-save performance.

The Foresters added an insurance goal when sophomore forward Andrew Francone (Unionville, Ontario/Milton Merchants) scored on a breakaway off a pass from fellow sophomore forward Ryan Panet (Markham, Ontario/Wexford Raiders).

Lake Forest will face off again at 7:30 Saturday (November 9) night in another NCHA contest. UW-Stevens Point, who was defeated 2-1 Friday at St. Norbert College, will bring its 1-2-0 overall and league record to Lake Forest.
