Just two players on the team are set to graduate in May

DE PERE, Wis. - The Lake Forest College men’s hockey team’s 2007-08 season came to an end following a pair of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Peter Cup quarterfinal series losses over the weekend (February 22-23). The Foresters fell 4-0 at St. Norbert College Friday night and 5-0 at the nation’s top-ranked team on Saturday. Lake Forest finished the year with an overall record of 3-23-1 while the Green Knights will enter next weekend’s semifinal round with a mark of 22-1-4.

St. Norbert scored its first goal of the weekend at the 9:27 mark of Friday’s opening period. The Green Knights tacked on three more scores in the first six minutes of the second period and the score remained 4-0 for the rest of the game.

On Saturday the home team struck for three first-period goals and added one in the second and another in the third.

Lake Forest junior goaltender Brandon Kohuch (Windsor, Ont./Chatham Maroons) played four of the six periods on the weekend and stopped 49 of 54 (90.7%) of shots on goal.

The youthful Foresters will lose just two players – defenseman Kevin Russette (Amherstburg, Ont./Leamington Flyers) and forward Blake O’Keefe (Almonte, Ont./Gloucester Rangers) – to graduation in May. Junior forward Mike Kneeland (Calgary, Alb./Calgary Royals) led this year’s team with 18 points and 11 assists and sophomore forward Adam Love (Durham, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) was the squad’s leader in goals with eight. Junior goaltender Scott Campbell (Bloomfield, Ont./Elmira Sugar Kings) posted a team-high .908 save percentage.
