Ruiz Reaches A-Division Finals at Milwaukee Classic
Herrera wins B-Division title
  

Ivan Ruiz reached the finals of the A-Division.
WEST ALLIS, WI - The Lake forest College men’s handball team competed in the 2004 Milwaukee Classic over the weekend (December 3-5).

Junior Ivan Ruiz (Los Angeles, CA) was the team’s top player and reached the finals of the A-Division before falling 21-15, 21-7. He had dramatically defeated his semifinal opponent 21-20, 17-21, 11-10. Senior Garrett Silveira (S. Hadley, MA) was defeated 21-15, 21-10 in his semifinal match.

A pair of Foresters competed in the final of the B-Division. Junior Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI) outlasted classmate Arturo Herrera (Anchorage, AK) 21-17, 16-21, 11-7 to claim the division’s title.

Sophomore Tom Pfeil (Philadelphia, PA) also reached the final of the D-Division but was defeated 21-14, 21-10.

The Lake Forest women’s team will compete in the Illinois Handball Association Singles Tournament in Lake Forest January 14-15. The men will be back in action the following weekend (January 20-22) in their state singles tourney.
