Freshman sets new school record at Forester Invitational

Derek Meiring's 27:02 is the fastest time in school history.
LAKE FOREST, IL - Freshman Derek Meiring (Carleton, MI/Airport Senior) was named Forester Athlete of the Week for the week of October 21st - 25th after his record-breaking performance at the Forester Invitational.  Meiring broke the 5 year-old school record of 27:09 by seven seconds to finish the 8K race in 27:02.  The time was a new personal best and good for eighth in the team's sole home meet of the season.  Meiring has erupted on the scene for the Foresters; finishing first on the team in five of the seven meets thus far.

Forester Athlete of the Week is voted on by the Lake Forest Athletic Department Staff on Thursday.
