WINNECONNE, Wis. - The Forester cross country teams competed in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Brooks Invitational on Saturday (October 17). Lake Forest's women placed 26th and the men were 34th. More than 1,000 runners and 18 of the top 25 women's and men's teams in the nation participated in the meet.

Freshman Sarah Peluse (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) was the first Forester female to cross the finish line, completing the 6-kilometer course in 24:20. Her time ranked 189th out of 466 runners in the race and fifth in team history for that distance. Junior Ryann Freeman (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) was next on the team in 230th place with a time of 24:49, the 13th-fastest mark in program history. Sophomore Amanda Glasgow (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and juniors Claire Garrett (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) and Brecklind Golovich-Keie (East Jordan, Mich./Charlevoix) narrowly missed putting their names on the program's top 25 list. Their 25:32, 25:44, and 25:46, respectively, rank 26th, 28th, and 29th in team history and were good for places 290, 300, and 301 in the meet. Eleven of the 13 Foresters in the race posted season-best times.

Junior Evan Piermont (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) was Lake Forest's top men's runner for the first time in his three seasons. He finished 349th out 551 runners with a career-best 8-kilometer time of 27:49, the fastest by a Forester this year. Sophomore Kelsey Small (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame) placed 387th with a season-best time of 28:08 and classmate Peter Sullivan (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) was 453rd in 29:07. Sophomore J.D. Randol (Topeka, Kan./Seaman) finished 520th in a career-best 30:52 and senior David Ehrenreich (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) rounded out the team's top five with a 532nd-place time of 31:48.

After a weekend off from competition, the Foresters will compete in the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, October 31. The meet, which begins at 11:00 a.m., will be hosted by Beloit College at Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park, Illinois.
