Students in Chicago

The Second City is Our Second Campus. Just days after arriving at the College, first-year students travel to Chicago with their First-Year Studies class for an excursion that relates to their course of study.

At Lake Forest College, you don’t just read about the Caribbean Reef for a class assignment, but experience it first-hand, getting a diver’s-eye view on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Shedd Aquarium. You don’t just study Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” on a projector slide, but see the paint strokes of the world-renowned masterpiece up-close in person at the Art Institute of Chicago. Chicago’s possibilities for hands-on learning are endless.

In addition to course-related field trips, the Center for Chicago Programs’ student-led Chicago Ambassador program will lets you canoe down the Chicago River, attend improv shows at The Second City, root for the Cubs at Wrigley Field and more, all with your fellow Foresters and all for free. And just for fun!
