Davis Schneiderman
Director, Center for Chicago Programs
dschneid@lakeforest.edu
847-735-5282

As Associate Dean of the Faculty and Director of The Center for Chicago Program, Davis oversees Lake Forest College’s Chicago-related experiences. He directs the Lake Forest College In The Loop Program, at our Chicago residential campus. He has taught extensively on Chicago and the region, with a recent focus on World’s Fairs and leisure, greenspaces, city planning, and literature. He was the Director of the National Endowment for the Humanities-sponsored Virtual Burnham Initiative, a collaborative virtual modeling of the 1909 Plan of Chicago. As Director of Lake Forest College Press, Davis coordinates Chicago-based catalog titles such as Beyond Burnham: An Illustrated History of City Planning for the Chicago Region (Schwieterman and Mammoser) and the forthcoming Terminal Town (Schwieterman).

Davis’ favorite things in Chicago, today anyway, include browsing zines at Quimby’s, riding bicycles or Segways along the lakeshore, or searching out a double espresso, even in the summer heat.

Jennie Larsen
Assistant Director, Center for Chicago Programs
larsen@lakeforest.edu
847-735-6172

As Assistant Director, Jennie’s main responsibility is helping Lake Forest faculty facilitate class field trips to Chicago, as well as speakers brought to campus. She manages the Center’s Chicago Ambassador program, and is happy to answer any and all questions related to the College and Chicago, including, but not limited to, the Lake Forest College In The Loop program, how to get around using the city’s public transportation system, as well as where to find the best Chicago-style deep dish pizza.

Jennie’s favorite thing to do in Chicago is to visit Floriole, a Lincoln Park café specializing in French pastries, where she can catch up with friends, get lost in a book, or sketch jewelry designs.

Emily Mace
Chicago Digital Humanities Coordinator
mace@lakeforest.edu
847-735-6171

As Chicago Digital Humanities Coordinator, Emily Mace oversees all aspects of the Chicago-related Mellon grant. She worked for the past two years in circulation at Donnelley and Lee Library. Since 2011, she has been the director of the Harvard Square Library, a digital library and website devoted to biographies, texts, and visual media about religious liberalism in the United States.

Emily has a B.A. from Amherst College and a Ph.D. in American religious history from Princeton University. She has written extensively about religious liberalism in America, and focused much of her research on an interesting character from Chicago’s religious history, Rev. Jenkin Lloyd Jones, a reformer and pacifist who helped to organize the Parliament of the World’s Religions at the 1893 Columbian Exposition.

Emily is a newcomer to Chicago, so she enjoys taking the Metra downtown to explore Chicago’s vibrant history and culture. She regrets that Crosby’s Opera House burned down in the Great Chicago Fire, because she’d love to take a tour.

Nina loves all things Chicago, especially the food, the lake, Bucktown, and the city skyline on a summer evening.
