Lake Forest College In The Loop- Application Process
A note on APPLICATIONS for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013: As an off-campus study program, the application process will closely follow the standard off-campus study procedure. This procedure involves TWO stages: (1) an initial “eligibility verification” stage, followed by (2) an “In The Loop” application. The two stages must be completed sequentially, and students must meet the deadline associated with each stage.
Stage 1 Instructions
1. Read about the Lake Forest College In The Loop program on the College web page and then make an appointment with Jan Miller, Assistant Dean of Faculty for Off-Campus Programs (Johnson B-177) to obtain all Stage 1 documents. ALL applicants must complete this process through the Off-Campus Programs Office.
Stage 2 Instructions
When you have received confirmation of eligibility to proceed with Stage 2, please complete the following steps:
1. Pick up a Stage 2 packet at the Center for Chicago Programs or download the packet from the links below (a - d). All forms contained in the packet must be completed and turned in, hard copy only, to the Center for Chicago Programs. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance shortly thereafter.
2. Stage 2 Forms to download:
a. Application
d. Faculty Recommendation (2)
3. Download the Personal Statement form and respond to the questions as indicated.
4. Download the Program Preferences form and respond to the questions as indicated.
5. To help you plan for your internship, you must meet with one of the internship supervisors in your field of interest (listed on the Program Preferences form) and have that supervisor sign the Program Preferences form, indicating that you have discussed possible internships. Internship Supervisors have been instructed to sign the Program Preferences form only after they have met and discussed internships with you.
6. Download the Faculty Recommendation form and take it to TWO faculty members. They will each complete this form and return it directly to the Center for Chicago Programs.
7. Submit the completed Stage 2 Petition, Personal Statement form and Program Preferences form to the Center for Chicago Programs. The deadline to submit completed Stage 2 documents is March 1, 2012.
8. When ALL the required items – including the two Faculty Recommendation forms – have been received in the Center for Chicago Programs, you will be notified of the status of your application.
