Payments for Micro-Mentorships

Upon successful project completion, students will receive stipends of $300 for 20-30 hours and $500 for 40-50 hours. Stipends will be based on the estimated hours of the project that is provided in the job description.

Payments:

  • will be based on a fixed fee of $300 for 20-30 hours and $500 for 40-50 hours. The estimated hours to complete the project will be determined by the employer and not dependent on time worked
  • will be made after the CAC has been notified by student and confirmed by the employer that the project has been successfully completed
  • typically take two weeks to process

Additionally, Micro-Mentorship opportunities must meet the requirements for the Department of Labor’s Test for unpaid interns and the primary focus is to provide significant educational benefits to the mentee.

Sample Projects

Arts and Culture
  • Provide support for the research, development, and/or implementation of educational programs.
  • Electronically catalog, digitize, and/or organize historical documents, records, or similar material culture.
  • Conduct crew work on archaeological or cultural preservation projects.
  • Provide research support in developing curatorial projects or exhibitions.
Communication, Social Media and Marketing
  • Create social media marketing, content marketing, influencer marketing and content promotions for a start-up.
  • Edit and proof-read training modules and web pages to ensure that they accurately reflect changes made after an organization’s merger.
Finance and Operations
  • Conduct audit of expense reports in accordance with companies standard operating procedures.
Organizational Development and Fundraising
  • Work with team to develop fundraising efforts that include event planning, social media posting, and donor prospect research.
  • Collect donor and volunteer stories of success – collecting and sharing with stakeholders.
  • Develop messaging in the form of newsletters, mailings, and shorter postings that encourages volunteer and donor participation.
  • Perform directed project work writing on funded grants and other projects, such as scientific writing for intended internal reports, outcome summaries, and assisting with current literature in a scientific field.
Technology
  • Assist with virtual phone system upgrade: Company currently uses a paid account with Phone.com for the routing of calls coming in through its toll-free phone number. The organization is not satisfied with the current configuration and functionality of this solution and is looking at the potential to either update the configuration settings within the existing platform or to migrate to a new solution. The organization would like assistance in assessing the best course of action and implementing the recommended next steps.
  • Assist in testing launch of updated technology system.
