What is the difference between an “Open Sign Up”, “Room Reservation Only”, and “Pre-Select” interview schedule?

Open Sign-Up is a type of interview schedule where students interested in the position sign up directly for interview time slots with the Career Advancement Center, without the employer reviewing resumes or applications. The Career Advancement Center handles scheduling of interviews and prepares the interview schedule. The employer needs to reserve an interview date, post the position, and show up for the interviews.

A Pre-Select schedule is similar, except that the employer reviews resumes prior to the interview date and picks to interview candidates that best fit the position. The CAC still handles scheduling of interviews and prepares the interview schedule. The employer needs to reserve an interview date, post the position, pick candidates to interview, and show up for the interviews.

A Room Reservation Only schedule is quite opposite of an Open Sign Up, and requires more involvement of the employer. The employer would need to reserve an interview date, post their position, pick candidates to interview, schedule interviews, and show up for the interviews.

If you are not sure what schedule would suit you best, please contact the Career Advancement Center at 847-735-5235 and a staff member will assist you. All on-campus interviews need to be scheduled at least two weeks before the interview date.
