1950
"Bob and Nancy Weber got four Lake Forest couples together for lunch — Kappa Sig guys," reports Len DeMichele of Bannockburn, Ill. "Total married years about 225. And they said it wouldn't last!" 1955
Noted historian Glennette Tilley Turner of Wheaton, Ill., was a featured speaker at the Evanston History Center in February. She discussed and signed copies of her book, The Underground Railroad in Illinois.
1959
Bert Congdon is chaplain of Huntsville Memorial Hospital in Huntsville, Texas.
1960
Stuart Cassell of Sarasota, Fla., reports that he now has two grandchildren, Joshua and David, and his son was recently married.
1964
On April 25, Peter Bonesteel of Flat Rock, N.C., celebrated "49 years of marriage to Georgia Jinkinson Bonesteel, world-famous quilter, author, and teacher." Peter has three grown and hugely successful children and eight grandchildren. He enjoys golf, tennis, and volunteering.
1966
After 40 years of teaching in Highland Park, Ill., Martha Bradford Boes Hershenson retired. She lives with her husband and two golden retrievers in Lake Forest. Martha writes, "I have become a soccer, play, cub scout, basketball, baseball, etc. grandmother. ItÕs nice to be alive and well and still contributing."
1967
Last November, Ted Adriance of North Sandwich, N.H., lost his wife of 31 years to cancer. Her passing was a devastating blow to his family. His daughter, Vanessa, is an attorney and lives with her husband in Los Angeles. Ted recently met up with Ginny Green MacDonald '65: "We covered a lot of history over our 42-year absence. It was fun!"
1968
Sallie Bowen of Butte, Mont., had a watercolor/collage, Shining River, Rippling Hills, accepted to the Memphis/Germantown Art League's National Juried Exhibition, which opened at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre in March.
1972
In March, Lynn Marsden-Atlass of Wynnewood, Pa., became the director of the Arthur Ross Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania. Provost Ron Daniels remarked that Penn was fortunate to welcome "a nationally known curator and educator with Lynn's remarkable range of experience." Most recently, Lynn was the senior curator of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
1974
Susan and Donald Cameron continue to teach at Brooks School in North Andover, Mass. Holder of the endowed Holcombe Chair for excellence in teaching, Donald heads the mathematics department, coaches girls and boys cross country, and is a dormitory parent. After 42 years of competitive road racing, Donald retired his running shoes and now spends his time gardening, bicycling, and hiking.
1976
Arlette G. Porter of Chicago was honored for her volunteer work with Chicago Legal Aid for Incarcerated Mothers on April 4. Arlette assists incarcerated mothers in the areas of guardianship, child custody, and post-incarceration matters regarding children.
1977
Ross Bricker was honored with the Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for Out-of-State Practitioners at a ceremony held at the Florida Supreme Court on January 31. In the last 12 years, Ross has devoted more than 3,600 hours to pro bono efforts. He lives in Evanston, Ill., and is a partner at Jenner & Block.
LeGrand S. Redfield Jr. of Norwalk, Conn., has qualified for the exclusive "Court of the Table" of the Million Dollar Round Table. Lee was recognized for his exceptional professional knowledge, client service, and ethical conduct. He is president of Asset Management Group, Inc.
Peter Reed, senior deputy director for curatorial affairs at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, recently authored "MoMA's Outdoor Room." Published in the museum's A Modern Garden, the article traced the history of the MoMA Sculpture Garden.
1983
"Anne, Mike, and I would like to share our joy with you," writes Peter Henry of Highland Park, Ill. "We are thrilled to welcome Jack into our family." Jackson Peter Henry was born on February 19. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 21.5 inches.
1984
Mark Shadle of Naperville, Ill., has joined the board of directors of the Alliance for the Great Lakes. "Mark's enthusiasm for a healthier Great Lakes environment makes him a leader," says the chair of the board. Mark is the deputy president for the central region of Edelman, a public relations firm.
1986
This fall, Jackie Thornton of Alameda, Calif., will begin work on an MFA in screenwriting at the UCLA School of Film and Television. She writes, "I fully expect many of my misadventures with my fellow Foresters will make an appearance in my scripts."
1987
Fran Bilotta and her husband, Riccardo Gulia, of Billerica, Mass., announce the birth of Veronica Rose Gulia on January 31. Pictured from left: Antonio, Anita, and Carlo Gulia welcome their new sister into the family.
"All is well here in Michigan," writes Lulu Lason Cannon on behalf of her and Mike Cannon '89, who live with their children, Mackenzie and Alex, in Portage, Mich. Lulu teaches group exercise and does freelance public relations and marketing. As the director of sales for Charter Media for Michigan and Nebraska, Mike is responsible for cable advertising in both states. The Cannons recently met up with Reid Wilson '89, Sara Weinberg Swift '90, Blake Swift '90, Andy Short '89, and Steve Mathison '89 at Snowmass in Aspen, Colo. Lulu reports, "We stayed in a house right on the mountain and had a hilariously awesome time."
1991
"In January, I celebrated my 40th birthday at the Chilton Club in Boston," writes Gaylen Bent of Wellesley Hills, Mass. "Among the guests were several Lake Forest friends who flew in from Chicago, California, New York, and Bermuda for the party. It was a lovely, very fun, and memorable evening!" Steve Vignocchi of Lake Bluff, Ill., has joined the staff of the College's Donnelley-Lee Library as assistant to Arthur Miller in the Special Collections and Archives Department.
1994
Scott and Melissa Williams Mullenbach of Evanston, Ill., welcomed Michael Scott Mullenbach Jr. on January 6. Michael is pictured with the College's Boomer the Bear.
1996
Matthew D. Bojrab and Jenny Amoroso Bojrab '97 recently moved from Milwaukee to Carmel, Ind. In June 2007, Matt finished his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as chief resident. Specializing in cosmetic jaw surgery and trauma/maxillofacial reconstructive surgery, he currently practices with Indiana Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates.
Christopher and Marica Ilic Hueneke welcomed Zachary Evan into their family on February 5. He joins big brother Tyler, age 1. The family lives in Lemont, Ill., where Marica is an underwriter for CNA Insurance Company.
1997
On October 27, MariClare Krzyzewski married Robert E. Osborn. The couple lives in South Bend, Ind.
1999
Trena Costello of Somerville, Mass., is the assistant pastry chef at the Langham in Boston. Trena received her L'Art de Patisserie certificate from the acclaimed French Pastry School in Chicago and most recently worked at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami. Trena looks forward to introducing guests at the Langham to two of her specialties: dark chocolate orange cremeux on a bed of chocolate crumble and hot chocolate with rose-infused marshmallows.
On March 2, Gabriel Navakas and Lily Friedman were married at the Midwest Conference Center in Northlake, Ill. The couple lives in Niles.
Carolyn Zook graduated in June with a master of science in sociology from Portland State University in Oregon and has been accepted to the PhD program in sociology at the University of Pittsburgh. She writes, "I will be moving back across the country this summer to begin classes in the fall."
2000
Michael Bartlett and Jessica Andrews Bartlett '99 of Hudson, Ohio, announce the birth of their second child, James Michael Bartlett, on September 24. Two-year-old William Henry helped welcome his little brother into the family.
Martin Robert Holland III of New York completed the Real Estate Associate Program on April 22. The program provides intensive training and preparation for managing and adding value to commercial real estate. William H. Burgess '69 attended the graduation.
In January, Aleksandra Matic was promoted to associate director of member travel at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she has worked since 2001.
2001
Last October, Amy Horvat married Bart Phelps. Alumni included Brooke Ferguson '01, Jill Fox Gerhardt '01, Michelle Murillo Galindo '01, Freya Olsen '03, Molly Rowland '02, Diana McGuire Nawrocki '01, Abby Swartz Munson '01, Cori Willers Zimmerman '01, Erin Sovick '01, Julie Capitani Eisenhut '01, Kara LoPresti '02, Emily McKenna Fencl '01, Jenaeth Higgins '01, Sean Gerhardt '00, Adam Nawrocki '01, Michael Munson '01, and Wes Wiseman '01.
Amy and Bart live in Lyndhurst, Ohio, with their two dogs, Jack and Rupert, and are avid participants in the Cleveland running scene. Amy works for McMaster-Carr, and Bart works for a software solutions company. The couple visits Chicago about every other month to meet up with Lake Forest alumni or attend events to benefit the Kate McMullen Foundation.
Dana Smith married Stephen Snodgrass at Holy Name Cathedral on September 1. A reception followed at the Park Hyatt Chicago.
Alumni in attendance included maid of honor Michelle Shrader '01, Jennifer Shrader '03, Melanie Shrader '05, Shannon Sobieski Richardson '01, Michael Richardson '00, Angie Kral '03, Jessica Steber '02, Alison Franklin '03, Beckie Malloy Hejna '04, and Mike Hejna '02. After a honeymoon in France, the couple returned home to Chicago. Dana is the events manager for the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and Stephen is a senior investment analyst at First Industrial Realty Trust.
2003
After completing a 15-month tour in Iraq, Sergeant Thomas J. Dutton was honored at an official welcome home ceremony on November 27.
One of his fellow soldiers created a video of their experiences on YouTube. Tom and Amy Glowacki Dutton '04 recently bought seven acres of land and are building a house in upstate New York.
Ihsan Leggett of Evanston, Ill., has been accepted to the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He welcomes e-mails from classmates at ihsanleggett17@yahoo.com.
On January 5, Amanda MacKinnon and David Mullen were married at the Hacienda San Angel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Farnaz Hakimian Õ03 and Sandra Fisler '03 attended the celebration. Amanda works as a tax consultant, and David is a landscape architect. The couple lives in Denver.
2004
After completing his MBA with a concentration in human resources at Loyola University in November, Karl Borchers relocated to New York to take a promotion as a compensation consultant with MetLife, the company for which he has worked since 2004.
2005
Sean Sparks of Foxboro, Mass., reports that Amy Edwards Sparks '05 completed her nursing degree from Curry College in May.
2007
"Disco Sunrise" by Mark Fancher of Milwaukee is now available on iTunes.
Doug Plagens of Trenton, Mich., recently called the game for the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate for Columbus, while completing a master's in broadcast journalism degree from Syracuse University.
