1931
Grace Groner of Lake Forest, Ill., celebrated her 100th birthday on April 4. She is the College's oldest living graduate.

1938
Elizabeth "Betty" McArthur Wiiken fondly eulogized her husband, Robert Wiiken '39, of 68 years, by recalling his many achievements. Among these, she said, was that "he was a three-letter man in college and on the conference championship team in 1938." Robert's brother, Donald J. Wiiken '47, his wife Carol, and their son Donald E. Wiiken '74 also celebrated his life at the memorial service.

1942
Zelpha and Bill Bulow live in Albuquerque, N.M. Bill is retired but gets to the gym regularly and enjoys being out with his dog in his backyard, soaking up the New Mexico sunshine. He is proud of his four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, most of whom live in Colorado.

1947
Rosie Petty Bailey of Indianapolis has done a lot of volunteer work. She has three children, two grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.

Gloria Frank has lived in Lake Bluff, Ill., for 19 years after earning a masters in English in California and teaching high school in Plymouth, Mich. "Of course, I still spend my summers in my dear log cabin in northern Michigan where I have many friends whom I've known through all the years," she says.

Joan Hitchcock Gasparoli of Roanoke, Va., taught preschool for 28 years and now volunteers at a local public school. She has four children, seven grandchildren, and a great-grandson, who was born last December.

"I just returned from a Florida trip to Coral Gables and the Keys where I caught up on the latest news of my first great-grandchildren Ñ twins due this June!" writes Peggy Leith McCabe of Deerfield, Ill. She reports that Gamma Phi alumna Pat Galitz Kramer '47 lives in Arizona.

Marilyn Manny Mueller Prince attended Lake Forest for one year before transferring to the University of Arizona. She now lives in Tucson.

Betty Webster of Chicago has volunteered at the Art Institute for 18 years.

1953
Last August, Tom and Marlene "Chickie" Baumheier Shields vacationed with and Roz and Jim Thompson '52. Chickie recalls, "We had fun telling our Ôbetter halves' stories about our college days. We don't see each other often since Jim lives in Arizona, and I live on Cape Cod." The old friends are pictured in the Swiss Alps.

Robert Cross connected with Jim Kallinger '83 at a statewide conference on child safety in Florida. Dr. Cross serves as a clinical consultant to a number of child welfare agencies and provides a host of services, including diagnosis and treatment for children who have been neglected, physically abused or sexually molested. 

1958
Tricia and Michael Henry of Marble Falls, Texas, celebrated their 50th anniversary in Mazatlan, Mexico, with their entire family. Mike writes, "We played in the sun and had much fun! The fishing was good, and the gals skunked the guys."

1959
George Mason of Kissimmee, Fla., has four children and is retired from a career in advertising and the fine jewelry business. While at the College, he recalls having to do "some fast explaining" when the police paid him a "courtesy call" after the Phi Delt pledges used his car to steal Christmas trees.

LeRoy Michels enjoys living in Reynolds Plantation, Ga., near many famous golf courses. He has been married to his second wife for 28 years. He liked the size of the College but wishes he had taken more interest in academics.

Lon Morrey of Augusta, Ga., is a retired CPA who specialized in governmental accounting. He and his wife, Carole, have two children and six grandchildren. They spend much of their time traveling in their RV and enjoyed touring Asia, while visiting their son who lives in Japan.

Bob Olson of Pasadena, Calif., reports that Joan and Moe Pryor '58 traveled to the West Coast to visit their son, Michael, and Foresters living in the area, including Pat Friend Larsen '59 and Ken Larsen '60. The friends celebrated New Year's Eve in Pasadena and enjoyed the Rose Bowl activities the next day.

Gail Harbison Plants and her husband have lived near Atlanta for many years. They have three kids and seven grandchildren. Gail fondly recalls the administration, students, and professors at Lake Forest. She reports that Karen Cassandra Cox '59 also lives in the area.

Ted Sares of North Conway, N.H., recently published Reelin' in the Years, his second literary work about boxing. A critic described the book as "a collection of captivating stories about our heroes in the squared circle," told in Ted's "swift-paced, descriptive writing style."

Fifteen years ago, Bob and Judy Plummer Swan moved to Asheville, N.C., on the advice of Charlie Mann '50. Judy is self-employed and sits on the board of the Asheville Art Museum. She has two children, four grandchildren, and two step-granddaughters. Her favorite College memory is an art class with Alex Nicoloff.

Bob and Lynn Kirchheimer Mickovic of Twinsburg, Ohio, spent February through April in The Villages, Fla. Lynn invites calls from Foresters and Alpha Phi sisters at 330-554-2521.

1963
On March 26, George Pavlatos of Scottsdale, Ariz., hosted a breakfast for his brother, Jim Pavlatos '61, who was visiting from Chicago, and Gust Totlis '62. While attending the College, they all lived in the Quadrangle, but each belonged to a different fraternity. Jim was a Phi Pi Epsilon, George was a Kappa Sigma, and Gust was a Phi Delta Theta. "As you would expect," writes George, "talking about our time at Lake Forest was the topic of the morning."

1966
Marc L. Apter of Annapolis, Md., is the vice president for marketing and public relations at St. Mary's College. His office received the 2008 Thoth Award in the multicultural public relations program category from the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

1969
Alan Beck of St. Regis Falls, N.Y., is collaborating with British illustrator Beth Snow on Chance of a Lifetime, a graphic novel based on his experiences at the College. He hopes to publish it in 2009.

Michael Winsor, a recently retired Episcopal priest, is making his living in professional massage and hypnosis. He entered the nursing program at Brookhaven College and planned to graduate in May. Michael hopes to continue his education and teach part-time while working at a hospital in Dallas.

1970
As a senior captain for North American Airlines, Albert J. Gallo of Wanamassa, N.J., became one of the lead pilots for Barack Obama's presidential campaign and very much enjoyed the experience. Al and his wife, Marianne, have three beautiful children, Toni, 22, Alissa, 20, and Al Jr., 17.

1971
Circus Smirkus founder Rob Mermin of Berlin, Vt., received the 2008 Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, Vermont's highest honor for achievement in the arts. The award was presented at a public ceremony at the Vermont Statehouse Capitol Building on October 17.

1973
Jane Leavitt has moved from upstate New York to Seattle to be nearer to her family and get away from snowy winters. "The joke is on me this year!" she writes. Jane sends greetings to Mitch Meyerson '73, Janis Audin '73, Kit Althen Curtis '73, Debbie Smith '73, Curtis Cohen '74, and Tom Carr '70.

On June 14, 2008, Robert Volk married Kit Mui in Brookline, Mass., where the couple now lives. Christopher Sink '75 was Robert's best man. Robert is a professor at Boston University School of Law. Kit is a fourth-year med student.

1976
Laurie DeMond-Rosen of Franklin, Mich., reports, "Our family recently attended my husband's investiture as Chief Judge, Eastern District of Michigan (Federal District Court). My son, Jake, 11, played "The Star-Spangled Banner" on his violin to a standing-room-only crowd of more than 300."

Christian K. Narkiewicz-Laine of Galena, Ill., recently edited American Poets Against the War, an anthology containing the work of more than 100 prominent poets. Christian is an architect, journalist, and poet.

1977
Andy and Holly Rotman-Zaid of Highwood, Ill., have two daughters: Maya, 27, an executive chef, and Sara, 29, a full-time mom of three. Holly works full-time selling promotional products and is a sculptor (she is pictured working on Perchance to Dream). See her Web site: www.hrzsculpts.com.

College Archivist Arthur H. Miller published an article about architecture and design historian Stephen M. Salny. The article was written in honor of the release of Stephen's third book, Michael Taylor: Interior Design. Stephen lives in Baltimore, oversees a family real estate management business, and sits on several cultural and literary boards.

David A. Seglin of Chicago has updated the original HSP/Ltd architecture Web site to highlight his past work as well as projects currently undertaken at Bauhs Dring Seglin Main, Ltd. He invites, "Visit www.davidseglin.com and let us know if there is anything we can do for you."

1978
After 26 years of teaching, Jerah Chadwick retired and was awarded professor emeritus from the University of Alaska. He was also formally adopted by the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska. He now lives in the "tamer north" of Duluth, Minn., where he coordinates academic support services at the College of Saint Scholastica.

1979
On August 8, Lee Bakakos married Gina McCarthy on the lakefront in Wilmette, Ill., the site of their initial meeting in 1975. The couple lives in Wilmette.

In November, Jay Larry received the 2008 Cornerstone Award from the Lawyers Alliance for New York in honor of his pro bono legal service contributions to local nonprofits, including 142nd Block Association; Families, Fathers and Children; United Way of NYC; and Julian's Light.

1981
Pete Magrini was appointed to the board of directors of the Illinois chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He is the senior vice president of worldwide operation and technology for Northern Trust. Pete and his wife, Cheryl, live in Chicago and have two college-aged sons.

1982
Tim Quinlan of Ann Arbor, Mich., has joined Brooks Kushman PC as a senior attorney. He is responsible for client counseling in trademark and other intellectual property law matters. He previously worked for Ford.

1983
Jim Kallinger and Robert Cross '54 recently participated in a statewide conference on child safety in Florida, where Jim was the major guest speaker. Jim is Chief Child Advocate for the State of Florida, advises Governor Crist, and coordinates services to several agencies responsible for the welfare of children throughout the state.

1984
David Pill of Charlotte, Vt., and his staff at Pill-Maharam Architects set out to "create a house with as little environmental impact as possible," and they succeeded with a local residence. An employee of Abbott Laboratories for the past 24 years, Michael Saad of Bristol, Wis., is currently the senior marketing manager for the company's international pharma eMarketing and eBusiness initiatives.

Brian Clauss of Park Ridge, Ill., serves as executive director of the Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic at The John Marshall Law School. He reports that that organization has published the book Military Service & the Law, which covers the complex legal issues faced by both active duty military personnel and veterans. Brian still maintains an arbitration and mediation practice.

"Hola Foresters from the Three Amigos!" writes Gardner Cook of Sonoma, Calif., of his trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with David Gunning '89 and Tom King '89 to celebrate 20 years since graduation. "We carried on the legacy of the Roberts Hall second floor where we met as freshmen. Great times had by all!"

David Gunning of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer of 2009 by Law and Politics magazine, Northern Ohio Live magazine, and Cincinnati magazine. He is an attorney at Roetzel & Andress.

Molly Sweeten Knudsen of Alexandria, Va., reports that her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Harold Knudsen '87, has completed his second deployment to the Middle East. She writes, "After a hot summer in Baghdad, Harold is happy to be home safely once again with his proud family!"

1990
Marina Gipps of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., worked on Barack Obama's campaign: "It was fun, and I got to meet all kinds of people. I even interviewed with Telemundo and other stations down in South Florida." After the election, she worked on a sculpture commissioned by a company based in Seattle and had 60 of her poems accepted for publication.

Dan Ricci, a political officer with the Department of State, is currently attending the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. He is married to Michiko Mihara and has a daughter, Hanako. Professor Jonathan Galloway put Dan in touch with Joy Sakurai '97, and he has since become her mentor.

Paul and Priscilla Posick Rollmann of Brown Deer, Wis., announce the birth of their daughter, Abigail Elizabeth, on March 2. Priscilla and Paul were married on September 30, 2006. Paul is a designer for Eaton Corporation.

Ralph Segreti was named a managing director at Barclays Capital in London.

Todd Sullivan of Raleigh, N.C., was named a North Carolina Super Lawyer for 2009. Todd is a partner in the Raleigh Office of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC. He is an employment law attorney and a recognized expert in employee defection matters.

"Hey, art history majors can get jobs in their field!" reports Sophie DuBrul Cue of Chicago. "I am the new art history instructor at Rickover Naval Academy, a CPS high school. Hopefully, some of my students will be future Foresters!"

Scott Seviour of Bridgewater, Conn., was appointed senior vice president, artist development for RCA Music Group. With this promotion, Scott will consult on talent across the label's roster while continuing to implement and manage marketing campaigns for a number of platinum artists.

Bob Blair-Smith of Downers Grove, Ill., enjoys working at Cbeyond, which provides business tools to small- and medium-sized enterprises. He is responsible for sales engineering for the eastern half of the country.

Jessica Gardner of Arlington Heights, Ill., was elected to the board of directors of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce and appointed co-chair of the chamber's Professional Women's Council for 2009. The Chicago Tribune recently named Jessica's blog (www.littlemerrysunshine.blogspot.com) among its list of Chicago's Best Blogs.

Laura Kotelman was promoted to practice development manager at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago.

Jamie and Howie Saperston of Amherst, N.Y., welcomed a baby boy, Sawyer Elliott, on May 22, 2008. Sawyer joins big brother H.T.S. IV "Tru", 3, and his godfather is Timothy Jones '93.

Steve Vignocchi writes, "I had the honor and pleasure of marrying Nancy Lee Neumaier at the Lilly Reid Holt Memorial Chapel on October 11." The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and have settled into their home in Lake Bluff, Ill.

Michael and Amy Frerichs Hernon of Algonquin, Ill., proudly announce the birth of their third child, Mary Katherine, on November 16. Amy reports that Mary Kate's brothers, Brendan, 4, and Robbie, 2, adore their new sister!

1996
On March 21, Kimberly Elkins married Stephen Rinaldi in Darien, Ill. Alumni in attendance were Kim Kasal Klunder '95 and Kevin Klunder '95, Pam Kreher Powroznik '96, Patrick Palubin '88, and Gwyneth Mibeck-Stupar '05, who attended with her mom, College Registrar Martha Mibeck. Kim is a psychiatric nurse for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Steve works as sales tax auditor for the State of New York. They live in Arlington Heights, Ill.

Debbie and Syed Hussain of Streamwood, Ill., announce the birth of Hakeem on February 24. Syed reports that Hakeem's brother Yusuf, 3, and sister Asiyah, 1, can't wait to teach him "how to play cars and join them at teatime."

Garth A. Spiller and his wife, Chelsea R. Stoner, of San Francisco, share the news of the birth of their daughter, Signe Chase Spiller, on October 22.

1997
Mike and Doris Heidysch Beylkin of Erie, Colo., proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Sadie Anneliese, on November 10. Doris writes, "We are so pleased to be first time parents!"

Michael and Darcy Nelson Forman of Raleigh, N.C., welcomed Nolan Arthur Forman on August 4. "We are loving every minute of this new experience," writes Darcy.

Joy Sakurai of Arlington, Va., is a Foreign Service officer at the Department of State. She has worked in Indonesia and Pakistan, and her next assignment will be as an assistant cultural affairs officer at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. She is married to Tim Hefner, and her professional mentor is Dan Ricci '90.

1998
Mariko Anno of Wilmette, Ill., earned her doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2008.

"I am still so proud to be a graduate," writes Christy Gouletas of Wheeling, Ill. "This school is amazing." Christy is a Lake Forest alumni board member and recently helped current students with a speed-networking event on campus. She encourages other alums to stay involved.

Jason A. Neal of Bellport, N.Y., writes, "Thank you very much to everyone who wrote to me or prayed for me and my battalion during our deployments to both Afghanistan and Iraq." His unit was redeployed to Fort Polk in mid-January, but Jason planned to be a civilian by the end of May.

1999
On June 30, 2007, Grace Gryglewska married James Kazak at the St. Edward the Confessor Church in Dana Point, Calif. A reception followed at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel. Grace is a real estate marketing specialist for her company, South Coast Realty
& Mortgage. The couple resides in Laguna Niguel.

JD Harris is the new head coach of the Spartiates American football team in Amiens, France. The Spartiates are number one overall in the French League and recently ended the winning streak of an opponent they had not defeated in five years.

Kimberley Jurawan of Orlando, Fla., teaches French and Spanish and is working on her master's degree in French. She recently celebrated the first birthday of her daughter, Isabella Jurawan Overmyer, born March 21, 2008.

2000
Kasima Imamovic of Skokie, Ill., works as a data analyst for a nonprofit agency in Evanston. She married Admir Obradovic in 2001, has a daughter named Emma, and is close to finishing her MBA with a concentration in health care administration. She welcomes e-mails at kasima6623@yahoo.com.

Josh Moulton of Chicago had his work included in Center Line 2009, an exhibition at Zhou B Art Center in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. Josh described the Zhou Brothers as world-renowned artists and was pleased to have his work included in the show.

On June 14, 2008, Hillary Wala married Hugo Dubovoy Jr. at the Moody Church in Chicago. A reception followed at the Metropolitan Club in the Sears Tower. Hillary received her doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Illinois in 2005 and is an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist with the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute. Hugo is a corporate attorney. The couple resides in Chicago.

Amanda Cash and Clayton Stallbaumer '01 of Waukegan, Ill., happily announce the birth of their first child, Jude Thaddeus Stallbaumer, on August 30.

Patricia and Morgan Pehme of Brooklyn, N.Y., share the news of the birth of their daughter, Fiona, on December 18.

In 2006, Rather Stanton of Chicago cofounded Griffith Tutoring, a nonprofit that prepares underprivileged Chicago-area high school students to take the ACT (www.griffithtutoring.org).

Matthew Ignoffo graduated with honors from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Josip and Anouk Russell-Goreta recently moved to Austin, Texas.

2003
On September 20, Samantha Coppi married Vince Scalabrino at the Alice Millar Chapel at Northwestern University in a ceremony officiated by Professor Ron Miller. A reception followed at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling. Foresters in attendance were father of the bride Verne Coppi '74; bridesmaids Jen Dlugosz '02 and Cris Eslinger '03; and friends Anne Morgan '03, Katherine McCauley Najjar '02, Eric Crawley '03, Sandra Keller '05, and Kristen Carpenter '09.Samantha and Vince honeymooned in Italy and reside in Buffalo Grove, Ill. Samantha received her master's of clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2005 and works for Glenkirk.

Mary Fisher of Ft. Collins, Colo., graduated from Colorado State University with a master's degree in chemistry in the fall of 2008.

Natalie Ford of Ft. Worth, Texas, reports, "I am teaching English and American history at a high school for students with learning differences."

Marci Herber of Grayslake, Ill., completed her MBA with a concentration in finance from DePaul University and accepted a position as a client audit analyst for CVS/Caremark.

On June 29, 2007, Erin McDevitt married Michael J. Frantz in Philadelphia, where they live. Abby Nolan '03, Kara LoPresti '02, and Sehla Qazi '04 attended the celebration. Erin and Mike were admitted to the PA and NJ bars in 2007. Erin recently left her job as general counsel for the Philadelphia Water Department for a position at a private law firm in New Jersey.

Last summer, Andrew Weber moved from New York City to Oneonta, N.Y., to become the general manager of the Oneonta Tigers, a single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and part of the New YorkÐPenn League (www.oneontatigers.com).

2004
Diane Doran received a bachelor of science in nursing from Rush University and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International. She is a registered nurse on a cardiac and neurosurgical unit at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

On June 7, 2008, Christa Rutt and Peter Kileff '02 were married during a small ceremony at El Centro Luterano in Antigua, Guatemala, where Christa grew up. Peter had proposed on January 3 at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Foresters in attendance were Sarah Rutt Williams '00, Michael Rammer '03, Aaron Rutt '02, and Kirsten Jorgenson '04. The couple lives in Chicago and is "enjoying every minute of being married!"

2005
Vanderbilt Divinity School commissioned Anna Kelly of Nashville, Tenn., to create cover artwork for the fall 2008 issue of its theological magazine, the Spire, which also included an essay about her. Anna received her master's of divinity from Vanderbilt in 2008.

2006
On August 31, Karina Jaros married Jeffrey Fuller at the College's Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel. Her bridesmaids included Maureen Conahan O'Neill '98 (far left) and Morgan Whitworth '06 (far right). Karen Mothkovich '06, David Schmidt '06, and Rebecca Bride '07 attended the celebration. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and lives in Round Lake Beach, Ill. Karina works as an investigator. Jeffrey is a hydraulic engineer.

On July 26, Rachel Lake married Jacob Mariani in their hometown of Bloomington, Ill. Molly Merrick '06 and Ashley Stanoch '06 attended the bride, and Lindsey McCurdy '06, Ben Reiss '06, Will Pittinos '06, Rene Gomez '06, and Allison Rieff '06 joined the festivities. The couple resides in Ashland, Ore.

Since graduation, Clare Longfellow has worked on AmeriCorps projects in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Indiana, Arizona, and California. Until April, she worked at a ski resort in Alta, Wyo., and this summer, she plans to intern at the Student Conservation Association in Canyonlands National Park.

Corporal Josh Plato of the United States Marine Corps returned from Afghanistan in October. On November 29, he and Annette King '06 were married in Peoria, Ill. Kim Iorio '06, Anya Smith-Jordan '06, Courtney O'Kray '06, D'Ann Dalros '06, Caroline Coykendall '07, Paul Tzirides '05, and Ivan Ruiz '06 attended the celebration. Annette graduated with her nursing degree in December. The couple resides in Jacksonville, N.C.

2007
After a year of teaching English for a private tutoring company in Tokyo, Jonathan Baskin returned to Southern California. He lives in Laguna Hills.

Louis Bertuca of Chicago is the executive aide to Pat Quinn, the governor of Illinois.

Allison Molloy of Lake Forest, Ill., is pursuing a KÐ12 art education teaching certification at Elmhurst College. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi and will student teach this fall. Allison's boyfriend returned safely from deployment in Iraq in May 2008. They live together and are planning for the future.

Erin Watts of Bartlett, Ill., is working on her second bachelor's degree in nursing.

2008
Jessica Ferrell of Chicago reports that she celebrates "roommate dinner" every Monday night with Sarah Lowery '08 and Taylor Bogdan '08 at the Rail. On the menu: beer and 10-cent wings.
