Women’s Softball
The Foresters defeated Midwest Conference Tournament host Lawrence University, Illinois College, and Beloit College to claim their fourth consecutive MWC championship on May 7. The team also advanced to the NCAA Regional final for the third time in the last four seasons before falling to Muskingum College. Lake Forest finished with an overall record of 25–15–1 and a league mark of 9–4.

Second year head coach Tina Johnson’s squad tied the third-highest victory total in the program’s history and set school records for runs scored, base hits, runs batted in, doubles, total bases, and stolen bases. In addition to the team’s five All-MWC South Division awards, four Foresters also earned All-Great Lakes Region recognition.

Johnson will look to replace four seniors on the team who have combined for six all-conference distinctions and ten school records over the last four seasons. Lake Forest’s 1994–98 women’s swimming and diving teams are the only other squads in school history to claim four conference titles in a row.

Men’s Tennis
Lake Forest finished the 2005 season with a 5–9 overall record and a 1–3 mark in Midwest Conference South play, good for third place in the divisional standings. The Foresters scored 20 points at the MWC Championship Tournament to place seventh in the league.

Head coach Chris Kane will welcome back all but one player from his lineup in 2006 and he hopes a strong recruiting class will propel the team back into the four-team conference championship tournament.
