Homecoming 2007
Guidelines for Tailgating

LOT IS FULL.
WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING VEHICLE RESERVATIONS, BUT WALK-INS ARE WELCOME.

Homecoming is a time to celebrate our community by welcoming back old friends and alumni, so that students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends can honor the College and our alumni for their achievements and their contributions to this institution.  The Homecoming football game is a highlight of the weekend, and tailgating can be a very enjoyable activity both before and after the game.

• Tailgating takes place in the Sports Center parking lot, bounded by the Sports Center, Maplewood Road, the softball field/ice rink, and Buchanan Hall (formerly the “Southside”/ and  Graduate School building.  By 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 4, all cars must be moved out of this area, or face towing charges.  Students may return their cars to this area on Saturday, October 6, after 8:00 p.m.

• Vehicles entering the area must be pre-registered and affiliated with groups.  Each student and alumni group must have a designated representative.  Representatives of student and alumni groups are responsible for:

  • Designating a non-drinking driver

  • Providing food and non-alcoholic beverages

  • Ensuring the space is clean at the end of tailgating

  • Ensuring that alcohol is not being distributed to minors

  • Representatives of student groups can register through the Gates Center (formerly LCI), and they must pay a $10 registration fee.  Alumni groups can pre-register through the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations (800-LFC-ALUM). Each alumni reunion may have up to three cars registered. Deadline for registration is Wednesday, October 3 at 5 p.m.

  • Tailgating will open for entry at 10:00 a.m. It will be closed to vehicle entry with pedestrian access only at 11:30 a.m. There will be no in and out privileges – if a vehicle leaves the tailgate area it will not be allowed back in.  Tailgating will continue until 90 minutes after the end of the football game.

  • Pre-registered vehicles may arrive to park their vehicles at 10:00am., and must be in place by 11:30 a.m.  All other vehicles will be asked to park elsewhere on campus.

  • Beverages must be kept only in commercially available containers designed for that purpose.  Truck beds may not be used as coolers.

  • Beverage are to be limited to non-alcoholic options, beer, or wine.  No liquor will be permitted.

  • For safety, glass bottles are not permitted.

  • Only single-serve containers are permitted.  Kegs and other mass distributions methods will not be permitted.

  • Every assigned tailgating spot must be left free of trash at the conclusion of the post-game tailgating period.  Registered individuals will be held responsible for the condition of their spot.  Individuals will be fined $100 per vehicle if trash is left behind.

  • No one who is visibly intoxicated will be permitted to bring a vehicle into the tailgating area.  Campus Security Officers will remove from the tailgating area individuals who commit any of the following, or similarly egregious, offenses:  public intoxication, alcohol abuse, violence, harassment, nudity or public urination.  Students removed on this basis will be referred to the College’s judicial system, and may face fines and other sanctions; alumni will be issued trespass violations.

  • The legal drinking age in the State of Illinois is 21.
