Campaign Goals > Investment in the Endowment

imageStudent Support and Development
Goal: $28,000,000

Campaign support is essential if Lake Forest College is to provide its students with a wide range of learning experiences and with the financial aid many of them need. The Campaign seeks to endow key academic programs, including several that offer opportunities for students to work side-by-side with the faculty on original research and scholarship. It is also essential for the College to offer competitive financial aid packages to students on campus; in addition, the College seeks to endow study abroad scholarships for students who otherwise could not afford the expense of spending a semester in Chile, China, France, or Greece. And it hopes to endow scholarships for international students who bring global perspectives to the Lake Forest campus and set an example of high academic discipline and achievement for all students.

The College also must enrich student life outside the classroom by expanding support services and facilities, and by creating more campus activities such as speaker and performing arts series.

Goal: $20,000,000

Through the Campaign, the College will develop permanent, endowed funds that can be used to recruit and retain outstanding faculty, provide them with the time and resources to conduct original research with students, support their scholarly work, and reward their accomplishments.

Campaign funds will also be used to bring renowned visiting lecturers to campus to enrich the academic experience of faculty and students alike. Nothing is more important to the College than a strong and committed teaching faculty, and the Campaign will ensure faculty excellence in the years ahead.

Goal: $5,000,000

Through the Campaign, the College will establish a permanent fund for its innovative Chicago programs and continue their expansion with such enhancements as a robust set of internships that will prepare students for careers in metropolitan business, artistic and professional communities; a number of new upper-level courses in various disciplines; a transportation fund to help students with the cost of train and subway fares; a speakers’ endowment to bring professional, political, business, and cultural leaders from Chicago to campus to speak, teach, and perform; and stipends for faculty who continue to develop exciting new courses and academic programs.

Campus Enhancements

Goal: $12,000,000

The College needs a permanent endowment to maintain campus buildings, many of which are historic; sustain the beauty of its plantings and landscaping; make needed upgrades to increase the accessibility of our buildings and facilities; and provide an annual reserve to take advantage of unexpected opportunities or to handle unexpected challenges. Campaign funds will also help maintain the Mohr Student Center, pay for special events that take place there, and help support the staff who run the center.
