As is tradition at Lake Forest, the Class of 2012 had their picture taken in front of Young Hall last year.
Lake Forest College welcomes the Class of 2013
Lake Forest is pleased to welcome the Class of 2013 to campus. The 355 first year students were selected from a pool of more than 2200 applicants and are a diverse and talented group representing 39 states and 26 countries. The College continues its commitment to enrolling a national and international student body that will provide cross-cultural learning opportunities broadening all students’ experiences. Of the 141 males and 214 females, 30 percent are either international or ethnic minority students. Academically, the incoming class is a strong one with an average grade point average of 3.5 with 53 percent graduating in the top 20 percent of their class and 38 percent in the top 10 percent.
“We are very proud of the students we have enrolled in the Class of 2013 as well as over 80 transfer students. They continue a long trend of academic strength and diversity that characterizes the Lake Forest College student body,” says Director of Admissions for Enrollment David Bennett ‘94. “Students continue to state that the College’s clear academic strengths, intimate setting, and proximity to Chicago, are fundamental in their decision to apply and attend.”
“Unsurprisingly, the biggest challenge this year was the current economic climate and its impact on families. We saw a dramatic upswing in requests for financial assistance and we are proud that we generously met that need. Over 85 percent of our students were offered scholarships and/or financial aid,” added Bennett.
Geographically, the incoming class comes from around the country and around the world. Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, California, and Florida are the most highly represented states in the Class. And, students hail from 26 countries: Bahamas, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Georgia, Germany, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Mozambique, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Swaziland, Switzerland, Turkey, Vietnam, and the Virgin Islands.
