Lake Forest, Ill. – Illinois residents admitted to Lake Forest College will now be granted a
Guaranteed $12,000 In-State Scholarship beginning with students entering in fall 2010.
"At Lake Forest, we recognize that the economy has an impact on many families and we are responding to this need,” says Vice President for Admissions Bill Motzer. “We have always given competitive scholarships and financial aid packages to our top students. We want to focus students and families on the quality of the education and take cost off the table, the best we can. The very best private college education should be available to Illinois students."
The Princeton Review recently ranked Lake Forest College among its top 13 colleges for financial aid in its 2010 edition of the Financial Aid Honor Roll. These select colleges were the only ones of more than 600 surveyed to receive a perfect score in the survey.
"For many students Lake Forest is a better fit for their education goals, but because they are concerned about cost, they think larger state schools are their only option,” Motzer added. “Our small class sizes, strong educational advising, robust internship programs, and opportunity for working with nationally known professors address the desire of many students for a more personalized education. These qualities are harder to find at many larger Illinois schools. Students’ decisions should be driven by quality not simply dollars.”
The College will offer a Presidential Scholarship of up to $12,000 for out-of-state students, which is a selective, merit-based scholarship opportunity. In addition to these the Presidential and Guaranteed In-State Scholarship, all students can apply for a talent-based scholarship and receive up to another $8,000. Please see the
Scholarships page on the College’s Web site for more information.
Lake Forest College is a national liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,400 students representing 45 states and 69 countries.
