9th Annual NeuroFrontiers Workshop highlights schizophrenia research
news story imageLake Forest, Ill. - The Lake Forest College Biology Department will sponsor the Ninth Annual NeuroFrontiers Workshop on Saturday, December 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Johnson Science Building, Room 200. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Kuei-Yuan Tseng, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science will deliver the keynote lecture at 4:30 p.m. on “Modeling Schizophrenia in Rodents: A Heuristic Approach.” A reception will precede the lecture at 4:00 p.m. in the second floor bridge of the Johnson Science Building.

Dr. Tseng received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Buenos Aires, and he performed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Center of Neuropharmacology and Neuroscience at Albany Medical College (New York). A rising expert on Parkinson disease and schizophrenia, Dr. Tseng researches pathological mechanisms that result from faulty dopamine signaling in the brain. On this topic, he has written over 35 articles, reviews and book chapters, and recently edited three major books.

Throughout the day, the public is also invited to the rest of the workshop, which will feature scholarly presentations by Lake Forest College students enrolled in “Biology 480: Neural Frontiers.” They will role-play world famous neuroscientists and discuss the scientists’ career contributions.
