Lake Forest, Ill. - The Lake Forest College Biology Department will sponsor the Eighth Annual NeuroFrontiers Workshop on Thursday, November 30, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Johnson Science Building, McCormick Auditorium. Two neuroscientists from the Chicago area will serve as keynote speakers on the topics of Alzheimer’s Disease and the Search for Addiction Cures. The public is invited to attend free of charge. The opening lecture at 8:00 a.m. on “Tau Tangles, Taoupathies, and Azheimer’s Disease” will be delivered by Lester Binder PhD, Abbott Labs/Duane and Susan Burnham Research Professor in Genetic and Molecular Medicine, and Professor of Cell & Molecular Biology at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. A reception will follow.
The workshop’s closing lecture at 4:30 p.m. on “Neuroscience in Search for a Cure for Drug Addiction” will be delivered by T. Celeste Napier, PhD, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Rush University/Rush Medical College. A reception will follow.
Throughout the day the public is invited to the rest of the workshop which will feature scholarly presentations by Lake Forest College students in Biology 346: Molecular Neuroscience, who will role-play world famous neuroscientists and discuss the scientist’s career contributions.
