This table will allow you to complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid ("FAFSA") when you do not have a completed 2007 federal income tax return available to you.
When you get to the question which ask, "Have you completed your income tax return?" you will answer "I will file..." From that point forward you simply provide your best estimate of all figures for 2007 -- what you believe your tax return will show.
FAFSA questions that are related to income will tell you where to find the answers, by giving the line number from the 2007 tax forms. When a 2007 tax form is not available you may begin with the 2006 tax return and/or W-2 information you have. Since the line references of the tax returns change each year, you must use this table to identify the correct lines from the 2006 return.
Important ! While you may use your 2006 tax return as the basis for your application, you must still make reasonable estimates for known increases or decreases in work income, earnings from investments, net business or rental income, etc. Do not use any line other than those shown below.
